Less busywork.
More useful work.
Reports, data entry, and handoffs shouldn't take over the week. We connect your tools and automate the repetitive parts.
What's eating
the afternoon?
Setfive is a small software team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We build business process automation around the people doing the work, including the exceptions that a neat flowchart leaves out.
The weekly report takes most of the week.
Someone downloads files from several tools, cleans them up, and sends the same report again. We automate the collection and preparation, so your team can spend its time using the information.
The same data gets typed twice.
An order in one system becomes a customer record in another. We connect the APIs or build a practical import process, with a way to spot failed transfers and resolve conflicting records.
Approvals disappear into email.
Requests arrive in different places and nobody can see what's waiting. We build focused workflows with shared records, clear ownership, and a view of what needs someone's attention.
Documents mean another round of retyping.
Invoices, forms, and PDFs contain information your systems need. We can extract and organize it, with human review where the format or accuracy calls for it. Not every step needs AI.
One useful workflow first.
Show us how the task works today, including the awkward cases. We identify what to automate, what should stay with a person, and how the team will know when something needs attention.
Bring the spreadsheet.
Show the workaround.
Tell us which task keeps coming back, which tools are involved, and what happens when it goes wrong. A description of the current routine is enough to start.
You'll talk directly with the engineers doing the work. We'll ask about the workflow, the systems it depends on, and your budget or timing constraints before recommending a next step.

Before we automate.
A few things you might be wondering before getting in touch.
Talk about your projectCan you work with the tools we already use?
Usually, but we first check the APIs, exports, and access your accounts provide. We can connect existing tools or add a small internal application. We don't assume replacing every system is the answer.
Should we use Zapier or build something custom?
A ready-made automation tool may be enough for a simple handoff. Custom code becomes useful when the workflow needs complex rules, larger data volumes, or an interface for handling exceptions. We compare those options before recommending a build.
Does automation have to involve AI?
No. Scheduled jobs, API integrations, and straightforward business rules solve plenty of problems. AI can help with less structured tasks such as document extraction, but we consider accuracy, review needs, and cost before using it.
What happens when an automated step fails?
We plan for failures as part of the workflow: useful logs, visible errors, and an agreed way to retry or handle the task manually. The approach depends on how important the process is and who will operate it.
How do we scope and budget the work?
Start with the task, its frequency, and the systems involved. We work through the access requirements and exception cases, then propose a useful first version. We can also help maintain it when the workflow or connected systems change.
